How To Travel To Italy - Meetup Presentation

Traveling to Italy is a dream destination for many foreigners.
As Italian a with Italy as a wonderful and at the same time one of the worst destination to go.
Relatively unsaved for tourist in  the major cities, get your wallet stolen is a daily thing here, dirty, lacking of services. 

After I said all this negative points, no matter what, Italy has an impressive heritage to discover and it's a must visit country.

Transportation 

Italy has Toll Roads!
To drive 20 km on a highway you will mostly end up to pay almost 3€, counting the high cost of the gas here, renting a car is likely not the first choice. 

Possibly one of the best way is traveling by train.
The railroad extension is more than good but the service provide is mediocre.

Important : The price of the high speed train ticket is constantly changing,

  you must book in advance to have a good price.
Local train are working on flat rate by distance.  

If you want to go cheaper you can book a bus

Flixbus is one of the best company to travel across Europe. 

Accommodation 

You can use any type of website.
But what I've found i actually s more popular in Italy is 

Booking 

Also Airbnb is getting more popular in the past years.

There is a high and low season and price can increase till the double.
Avoid July to August,if you have vacation only in this period, look up to north Europe that's your destination!

When to go 

As mention above the worst period to travel to Italy is during summer, unless you're not planning to go to the seaside and chill at the beach, visit the lakes or go to the Alps.
Visit a big city during August is a declaration of  self-torture.
The concrete is melting under you shoes, and is literally melting, we use low quality concrete as pavement. 

I like to travel during winter in my country, days are relatively sunny, no big crowds and price is lower.
Temperature are pleasant in the south, they don't usually go below zero. 

March and April are good but with showers.
Also I suggest to go from September to November.
